Village of Arts and Humanities - 20th Anniversary Lecture Series
Alan Jacobson, President AGS, was a guest speaker at the 20th Anniversary lecture series honoring Lily Yeh and the Village of Arts and Humanities. The first of four programs was hosted by the University of the Arts and kicked off the Lily Yeh Legacy Fund.
For eighteen years, the Village of Arts and Humanities has been synonymous with the art of dynamic personality of its founder Lily Yeh. It was through uncompromising persistence and endless enthusiasm that Lily Yeh built the Village as a neighborhood center and organization, never giving up on the transformative gifts of art. Evidence of this passionate spirit, embodied in Lily Yeh, is found in the transformation of a neglected urban fabric through her artistic collaborations with the Village neighborhood. To pay tribute to Lilly Yeh, the Board has established a special fund in her name, the Lily Yeh Legacy Fund for Community Building through the Arts. The Legacy Fund will provide funding for the ongoing maintenance and development of the very fabric of the Village; the community parks, gardens, and murals which are Lily Yeh’s imprint on the neighborhood. While paying tribute to Lily Yeh, the Fund also marks the organization’s renewed and ongoing commitment to its surrounding neighborhoods and their residents.
