AGS receives SEGD Design Honor Award - Lankenau Hospital
The Society for Environmental Graphic Design (SEGD) honored AGS, an environmental graphic design firm and ex;it a design research firm with a 2006 Design Honor Award for the design of the Lankenau Hospital Wayfinding System.
A cutting-edge approach to facility navigation the program that identifies navigation problems through extensive visitor, patient and staff interviews to gain a full understanding of current conditions and wayfinding challenges within a facility.
The “I’m lost factor” benchmarking tool was developed to set a baseline by which to measure progress and goals.
Through pre-arrival destination cards, wayfinding guides, exterior and interior signage, and volunteer training the score improved from 66.1 to 89 out of a possible 100 points
By working with AGS, Lankenau has been able to better direct patients and visitors, while creating a simplified way for volunteers to provide verbal directions.
A member of the Design Awards Program said, “A methodical, well thought out signage program. I wish more programs illustrated such solid, rigorous wayfinding solutions.”
SEGD is an international association headquartered in Washington DC with over 1000 members involved in design of graphic elements in the environment.
